 Mr. Robert Houston Burns, age 84, a resident of Bear Creek Pike in Columbia, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at his residence.

 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 4-8PM and again on Saturday from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on August 13, 1934 in Maury County, Robert was the son of the late John Bernard Burns, Sr. and the late Rebecca Eskew Burns. He worked many years for Union Carbide Chemical Company before retiring in 1987. Robert enjoyed fishing, but his greatest passion was farming. He had a great sense of humor and was always quick to pull a joke on someone.

 

He is survived by his children: Ronnie (Rachel) Burns of Columbia, Eddie (Becky) Burns of Columbia, Jerry (Faye) Burns of Pulaski, Mike Burns of Columbia, Sharon (Allen) Woods of Columbia; brother: William (Marjorie) Burns of Columbia; sisters: Catherine Choate of Columbia, Jean (Billy) Crowe of Columbia, Margaret Billington of Columbia, Linda Brown of Columbia; fourteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: John Bernard Burns, Jr., James Edward Burns; sisters: Marie Cox, Dot Parsley; and grandson: Justin Woods.

 

Pallbearers will be: Bubba Carter, Thomas Burns, Hunter Burns, Colt Burns, Robbie Burns, Jason Burns, Michael Burns, and Brandon Woods. Marlon Hendrix will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
