Robert Hogan “Bobby” McDonald Jr., 78, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023.
Bobby was a native of Tuscumbia, Alabama. He was a 1963 graduate of Deshler High School and received his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of South Alabama. During his career in the insurance industry, Bobby worked for Aetna, Siebels Bruce, and was president of The Gulf Agency (AIG), where he retired.
Bobby was an outgoing and personable soul who loved life. He enjoyed boating and he enjoyed his numerous lifelong friends.
Preceding Bobby in death were his parents, Robert Hogan McDonald Sr. and Lula Mae McDonald; brother, Doug McDonald; brother-in-law, Shawver Clendenon; nephew, David Clendenon; and niece, Amanda McDonald.
Survivors include siblings, Johnny McDonald (B) and Betty Clendenon; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane McDonald and Nancy McDonald; nieces, Johnna McDonald, Angela Counts (Thomas), and Lindsay McDonald; and great-nephews, Hayden McDonald, Preston Counts, and Isaiah Counts.
Following a private memorial service, friends of Bobby are invited to join the family for a casual celebration of Bobby’s joyous life on Saturday, August 12, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Locust Hill, 209 S. Cave Street, Tuscumbia.
The family gratefully acknowledges the care and support of Bobby’s close friends from Smith Lake, the nurses and staff of Mitchell Hollingsworth, Myrdice Andrews, and Brayden Chandler.
