Robert Harris “Bobby” Rigsby, of Hazel Green, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on the night of March 21, 2023. Bobby was born February 24, 1946 to Robert Leatherwood Rigsby and Dorothy McGehee Rigsby. Bobby was a lifetime resident of Madison County. He graduated from Sparkman High School and studied Criminal Law at JSU. He graduated in the 5th Academy Session of the Huntsville Police Department in 1967. After spending a number of years as an officer with the Huntsville Police Department Bobby continued in the field of police/public safety working at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Redstone Arsenal. He eventually moved out of police work into a Government Accountant position at Redstone Arsenal until retiring. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bass fishing.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 39 ½ years, Donna Sanford Rigsby; son, Robert H. “Rob” Rigsby, Jr. of Atlanta; his fur-baby, Corky; three nieces and nephews; several cousins; as well as countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Leatherwood Rigsby; mother, Dorothy McGehee Rigsby; and sister, Deborah Linsey.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00pm Wednesday, March 29 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the service immediately following at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Huntsville Police Citizens Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
