Robert Gordon Grundy, 80, of White House, TN sadly left us on Saturday, March 19, 2023. Robert was born in Detroit, MI to Robert J. and Benita Scofield Grundy on December 1, 1942. He grew up in Royal Oak, MI and graduated from George A. Dondero High School. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era in the U.S. Army, where he was honorably discharged. He was a member of the DAV and the American Legion Post #206 in White House. He attended Farris State University in Big Rapids, MI and majored in Business Administration. He worked in sales, sales management and distribution marketing for many years. Later in life, he began substitute teaching for Robertson County Schools. It brought him much joy and the students affectionately called him “Mr. Bob”. Robert was married to Dorothy Skurski Grundy for 45 years before her passing in 2015. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Robert enjoyed sports of all kinds. He played high school football, baseball and hockey. He was a baseball umpire for a while and loved to attend games at the local high schools. He also enjoyed reading, bird watching and spending time with his granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Grundy; sister, Linda Cronk. He is survived by his loving daughter, Debbie (Greg) Nance; granddaughters, Maddie and Courtney Nance, all of White House, TN; sister, Janet Lee Beaudette, St. Clair Shores, MI. Funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Pastor Ashley Mofield officiating. Inurnment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery Columbarium at a later date. Visitation with the family is planned for Wednesday, March 22, 2023 5-8pm and Thursday, March 23, 2023 11am until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
