Robert Francis Wantanen, 70, of Madison, passed away Tuesday. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, son of the late Eino and Esther (Vollentine) Wantanen.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Wantanen of Owens Cross Roads, AL and Michelle Bradley (Eddie); grandchildren, Hannah, Robert, and Haylee Bradley of Grant, AL; sister, Pamela Becker; and nephew, David Becker of Williamsburg, VA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Wantanen.
Mr. Wantanen graduated from Bryan Station High School and received a BA Degree from the University of Kentucky. He worked at the Bluegrass Army Depot in Lexington, KY and later transferred to the US Army Missile Command in Huntsville, AL, where he worked in the Directorate of Information Management until he retired in 2000. He resided in his home in Madison, Alabama until his death.
No services will be held at this time. A memorial service will be planned at a later date in Lexington, Kentucky with burial in The Lexington Cemetery
