Robert F. James – Obituary

Robert F. James, 87, of Huntsville passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by his family. Mr. James was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WW II. He retired as an aerospace engineer from the US Army Missile Command. He was a member of the Mayfair Church of Christ. He was a member of Toastmasters International for over 25 years and won numerous awards in speech contests. He was an avid tennis player and golfer. He was a former co-owner of S & S Golf Driving Range and he loved gardening. Mr. James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lillian Callaway James; his children Carmen James Nichols, Drew Robert James, Dawn Annette James and Karl Fountain James; his siblings, Wilma Wright, Howard James, Rogers James, Carolyn Rogers, Raymond James and Bonnie Boling; four grandchildren, Lindsay Nichols Thompson, Chase Nichols, Brandon James and Aaron Schell; three great grandchildren, twins Ava and Ellla Thompson and Dylan Nichols. Visitation will be Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 1:00pm until 2:30pm at Mayfair Church of Christ. Funeral will be at 2:30pm, Saturday at Mayfair Church of Christ with Dr. Gary Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your favorite charity. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
