Robert Eugene Douthit died at home Monday, November 25. Bob grew up in Jacksonville, Alabama, graduated from Jacksonville High School and received his BS in Accounting from Jacksonville State University. He was hired right after graduation by the Federal Government as an Internal Revenue Agent and served as a Revenue Agent until his retirement.
He was predeceased by his father, Floyd Douthit, his mother, Myrtle Foy Douthit, and his brothers, Buster Douthit, George Douthit and Frank Douthit. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ellan Douthit; son, Bobby Douthit (Jennifer); grandchildren, George and Ella Douthit; brother; Jim Douthit (Judy); sister-in-law, Edith Carter; almost daughters, Jan Downing (John) and Suzy Calloway; almost grandchildren, Chace Downing, Cooper Downing and Leah Downing; nieces and nephews, many extended family members, and wonderful caregivers from Hospice of North Alabama.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 29 at 11 a.m. at Crook Cemetery in Ohatchee, Alabama led by Reverend Tommy Hayes.
