Robert Edward "Eddie" Burns Mr. Robert Edward “Eddie” Burns, age 66, husband of Becky Davidson Burns, and a resident of Bear Creek Pike in Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at his residence.

 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Edd Luna officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

A native of Columbia, Eddie was born on September 23, 1956, and was the son of the late Robert Houston Burns and the late Eddice Sneed Burns. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1976 – 1980 where he was stationed in Germany. He married Becky Davidson on September 18, 1981. Eddie worked many years for Columbia Construction and later worked several years for Smith Trucking before retiring. He loved riding his motorcycle and was an automobile enthusiast. Whether it was a motorcycle, antique truck, or tractor; whatever he could get his hands on, he would fix it. He enjoyed fishing and watching their chickens roam the yard. Eddie was an avid gardener and kept a garden every year. He had a variety of music he enjoyed listening to from rock n roll to blue grass and old country and often enjoyed watching Nascar and football, especially the UT Vols. Above all, Eddie loved his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Dustin Colt (Tiffany) Burns of Mt. Pleasant, daughter, Brittany Shaya Nicole (Bryan) Zimmerman of Smyrna, brothers, Ronnie (Rachel) Burns of Columbia, Jerry (Faye) Burns of Pulaski, Mike Burns of Columbia, sister, Sharon (Allen) Woods of Columbia, grandchildren, Trinity Zimmerman, Averi Zimmerman, Kannon Zimmerman, Emmy Zimmerman, Lily Burns, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

 

Honorary pallbearers will include Colt Burns, Bryan Zimmerman, Richard Lovett, Hubert Hie, Jimmy Warf, Ronnie Burns, and Jerry Burns.
