Robert E. "Jack" Moore Jr. Robert E. “Jack” Moore, Jr. 88, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, with his loving wife of 69 ½ years by his side. Visitation will be Sunday, June 2, at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, at 1:00 p.m. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia. Bro. Ted Vafeas will be officiating.

Jack was an avid Alabama fan. After he retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he worked from 1956 – 1992, he and Earline would pack up the motorhome when the season started and follow the team all season. Jack was also an avid golfer. He belonged to the Florence Country Club for many years until it closed, and was known as the Iron Man because he drove with a 9 iron instead of a wood. His big thrill came on April 25, 1986, when he made a 270 yard hole-in-one on the 9th hole.

Jack coached Muscle Shoals Little League. He was a member of Muscle Shoals Band Boosters and president and chairman of the Colbert County Exchange Club. He also served on the Muscle Shoals Electric Board. His contributions and commitment to the community were greatly appreciated.

Jack’s smoked bar-b-q chicken was unarguably the best to those who had the privilege to try it out. His smile and laughter brightened up the room. He dearly cared about others. He will be so missed.

Jack is survived by his wife, Earline; cousins; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daryl; mother, Evelyn McDougal; and father, Robert Earl Moore.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Brad McAnalley for his special care. We would also like to thank the caregivers at J. W. Sommer and Keller Hospital 4th floor.
