Robert D. Rogers – Obituary

Robert D. Rogers passed away November 2, 2016. Visitation will be from 11:00am -1:00pm Saturday November 5, 2016 at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm with Bro. Howell Bigham officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Church of Christ Cemetery.

He was a native of Lauderdale County, where he retired as a Lubrication Specialist from Reynolds Metal Company after 31 years of employment. He served his country as a MP in the US Army. He was a longtime member of Shiloh Church of Christ. He loved working in his yard & garden. He was known in the community for his beekeeping & his muscadine vineyard.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Willie Idell (Loveless) Rogers; his parents Norman Ira & Clara Mae Rogers; brothers Billy Rogers, Charles Rogers & Tom Rogers; and his sisters Josephine (Rogers) Gray & Marilyn (Rogers) Raney.

He is survived by daughters Robbie (Rogers) Hill & Debbie (Rogers) Rigel; grandchildren Tess & Zach Hill; brother John Rogers; sister-in-laws Doris & Faye Rogers; and many dear nieces & nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Rogers, Tim Rogers, Kelvin Rogers, Chance Rogers, Dana Raney, Jerry Briley, Jim Phillips & Andy Rickard. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Rogers, H.L. Thompson & Harold Dean Thompson.

We would like to extend a special thanks to his doctors Dr. Robert Mann, Dr. David Meyers (Memphis), Dr. William Heaton & Dr. Peter Pons for the medical care that allowed us all the extra wonderful years.

He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather & a mentor to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
