Robert “Bobby” Gleason, age 60, of Athens passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his residence. Bobby was the first born son of Bob and Nell Gleason. He was born in Decatur and graduated from Austin High School. He followed in his father’s footsteps by working in the television industry most of his life. WAAY-TV in Huntsville was his first job and he worked around the country until he settled in Charlotte, N.C., where he made his home. He was an excellent award winning photographer and editor and excelled in his field. Bobby loved all sports and travel.
The family wants to thank Duke University Hospital and Huntsville Hospital for their support and care during his courageous battle with a double lung transplant.
Bobby is survived by his brothers and sisters along with several nieces and nephews. We loved him very much and will miss him evermore, especially his kind appreciative loving spirit.
