Robert “Bob” Montgomery Trammell Sr., 79, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015. He was born May 30, 1935, in Greenville, SC, to Lillian Eugenia Tharin and Grover James Trammell.
Bob graduated from Greenville High School, Wofford College and lastly, Furman University where he completed his majors in math, physics and chemistry. After graduation, Bob worked with Millikan Mills in research and development and later, joined DuPont, managing radiation control and monitoring at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC. He felt called to serve Christ and attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, and served several rural churches in north Alabama. In 2006, Bob retired from BellSouth/AT&T in Atlanta, GA. His passions were art, science, music and writing. His motto “Life is Abstract” shaped his painting style to Abstract Expressionism. Bob published StarWalker, a tome dedicated to his youngest son. He was a true piano man and he supported numerous charitable organizations.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mark Christopher Trammell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; son, Bob Jr.; stepdaughter, Rebecca and granddaughter, Kara.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel, 14755 Oak St., Magnolia Springs, AL 36555.
