With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Melton Gibson, who peacefully departed this life on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the age of 82, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his wife, Marion Gibson. Born on March 10, 1942, in Missouri, Bob’s journey through life was marked by diverse experience and interests.
After serving in the US Air Force, Bob pursued higher education, earning two Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Economics as well as an MBA. Bob had different jobs throughout his career. His last was joining his son Roger, working for many years at Roger’s window tinting business.
In his younger days, Bob enjoyed fishing and motorcycle riding. Passionate about computer science, he even tried his hand at disproving the prime number theory and wrote a lottery prediction program.
Bob’s love for Marion was an anchor in his life. Together, they shared nearly two decades of companionship, forming an unyielding bond that weathered life’s challenges and joys alike. Their shared passion for adventure often led them to Tunica, Mississippi, where they found delight in gaming at the casinos, sometimes accompanied by Marion’s daughters, Natasha, and Casondra Bisesar.
In addition to Marion, Bob is survived by his children Robert (Linda) Gibson, Roger (Jerri) Gibson, Mary (Paul) Barnett, John (Melinda) Gibson, as well as eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. His passing is preceded by his parents, Roger F. Gibson and Virginia Slone, his brother, Fletcher Gibson, his daughter, Sandra Townsend-DiSabatino, and his grandson, Michael Townsend.
In honoring Bob’s wishes, the family will proceed with cremation, forgoing formal services. Though he may have departed from this life, he will be remembered everyday by those who loved him. Rest in peace, Bob.
