Robert Barlow was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 10, 1931, the son of the late Robert Aubrey and Mary Lucille Barlow. On March 25, 1951 he married Peggy Kinsey, who preceded him in death on January 4, 2009.
Robert was a veteran, serving in the Air Force. He was a property manager for Central Woodwork of Memphis, Tennessee for 40 years. He owned the Redwood Hut in Counce, Tennessee for 10 years. Robert’s favorite pastimes were fishing, carpentry and raising boarder collies; and he always enjoyed meeting and being with people.
He was a member of Pickwick United Methodist Church; and a member of the Pickwick Shriners – Savannah Lodge 102. He served as Commissioner of Hardin County, a school board member, a school bus driver and served on the Water Utility Board.
Robert departed this life on August 16, 2012.
He is survived by three sons, George Robert Barlow, Jr. of Counce, Tennessee, Tommy Len Barlow of Katy, Texas and James Alfred Barlow of Abilene, Texas; a daughter, Sherry Barlow Lipford of Counce, Tennessee; a brother Melvin Barlow of Los Cruces, New Mexico; a sister, Nancy Barlow of Boulder City, Nevada; six grandchildren, Jennifer Walker, Kristi Hebel, Bradley Barlow, Shasta Pickens, Wesley Barlow and Derek Barlow; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Hebel, Ella Walker, Robert Walker, Drake Walker, Georgeanna Pickens, Estella Pickens, Cash Barlow and Case Barlow.
In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.
