Robert Aulton Campbell, age 71 of Decherd passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020. Mr. Campbell was born in Fyffe, AL on March 30, 1949 to the late John Aulton and Eloise Bailey Campbell. He was a 1969 graduate of Fyffe High School, where he played trumpet in the marching band. Following high school he attended and later was a 1973 graduate of the Baroness Erlanger Nursing School in Chattanooga. He began his nursing career at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital, where he worked from 1973-1975. After his time at the Children’s Hospital, he transferred to Erlanger Hospital in 1975 and stayed there until 1984. In 1984 he left Chattanooga and moved to Winchester where he took the position of Operating Room director at STRHS, where he stayed until 1992. He retired in 2011 from Huntsville Hospital, where he served as the ENT coordinator in the operating room. He loved to listen to jazz and big band music. He was a member of the Winchester First United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his quick wit and hardy laugh. He is survived by his daughter, Robyn Campbell Grant of Ft. Mill, South Carolina; grandchildren, Michael Vance Grant III, Eloise Campbell Grant, both of Chattanooga; former wife Sandra Campbell of Decherd; step-children, Christopher Canary and Kenneth (Amy) Canary both of Murfreesboro; and step-grandchild. Katie Canary. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Ft. Payne, Alabama.
