Rob Mackintosh, 60, of New Market, passed away Wednesday, February 2. Rob was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He graduated from Huntsville High School in 1979. He spent seven years serving his country in the United States Army, honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1990. He attended Athens State University, graduating in 1992 and earning a double major in math and computer science. He spent the next 29 years working in the defense community. Rob loved his faith and his family. Married for 29 years, he and his wife Jennifer had six children: Sarah Hand (James), Matthew Mackintosh (d, 1999), Mark Mackintosh, John Paul Mackintosh, Katie Mackintosh, Lauren Mackintosh, and three grandchildren that Rob adored: Maggie Hand, Peter Hand, and Emily Hand. His faith was deep and quiet and informed all of his choices. He loved and served God and his parish community at Our Lady, Help of Christians Catholic Church in Huntsville. Rob was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Thomas Mackintosh, and his brother-in-law, Chris Hatcher. In addition to his wife of 29 years and five living children, Rob is survived by his parents, Bob and Lois Mackintosh of New Market, and brother, Brian Mackintosh (Yuhuan). Visitation will be held 6:00-6:45 pm at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 6:45 led by Father Alan Mackey. A Requiem Mass for the repose of Rob’s soul will be Saturday, February 5, at Our Lady, Help of Christians Catholic Church. Rosary will begin at 10:30 am; High Mass at 11:00 am, Father Alan C. Mackey, pastor. Burial will take place at 1:00 pm at Maple Hill Cemetery.
