Rivers Bates – Obituary

Rivers Bates, 85, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Friday, May 22, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a member of Mt. Glory Baptist Church, and was retired from Bluebell Manufacturing. She enjoyed quilting in her spare time. Visitation is scheduled for 11 AM until 1 PM on Saturday, May 23 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Franky Smith. Interment will follow in Rutledge Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers include Joey Maxwell, Brad Maxwell, Tim Harris, Bill Bates, Trey Adams, and Ken Hanks. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. She is survived by 2 sons – Hugh Bates (Charlotte) of Paden, MS and Jarrell Bates of Tishomingo, MS; 2 daughters – Linda Adams (Clark) of Belmont, MS and Wanda Cox (Verlon) of Bolivar, TN; 3 brothers – Billy Wayne McKee, Ray McKee, and Whit McKee; 4 sisters – Blondia Stratton, Evelyn Whitehead, Dot Timbes, and Frances Wilson; and 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bates, and her son, James Bates. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.
