Mr. Ritter Eugene Cothron, age, 71, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, at his daughter’s residence in Culleoka.

 

The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on November 26, 1949, in Nashville, Ritter was the son of the late Dorris Ritter Cothron and the late Mary Ann Snyder Cothron and married Olivia Shands on October 3, 1972. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Hornet and was involved in multiple Apollo missions. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Hawaii which is where he obtained his love for the beach and surfing.

 

Taking after his father, Ritter was an iron worker for thirty-two years and was a member of the Local 492 Union in Nashville. His son and son in law followed in his footsteps and are members of the same union. His biggest hobby was fishing; he fished almost daily and participated in many fishing tournaments. He also enjoyed going to car shows and restoring old cars, specifically a 1937 Chevy which he worked on for many years. Above all, he was a selfless man who loved his family and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

 

In addition to his wife, Olivia Cothron, he is survived by his children, Richard Eugene Glaser of Vicksburg, MI, Corrinne (Shawn) Reed of Culleoka, TN, Cameron (Leeann) Cothron of Lynnville, TN, siblings, Daniel (Helen) Cothron of Chattanooga, TN, Ann Marie (Matthew) Marquis of Burns, TN, Donna (Larry) White of Culleoka, TN, Travis (Ann) Cothron of Dickson, TN, grandchildren, Savanna Glaser, Delaney Glaser, Raymond Glaser, Aaron Reed, Ava (Jeremy) Roberts, Cydnee Cothron, Brady Cothron, great grandchildren, Ashton Reed, Tyler Roberts, Noah Roberts, uncle, James Snyder, aunt, Betty Jo Allen, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
