Rita Whaley Smith, age 90 of Scottsboro, formerly of Boaz, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. She was also known as “Mrs. Tupper” at the restaurant, Mrs. Tupper’s in Boaz.
She is survived by her daughters; Susan Smith, Jackie Johns (Glen), Linda Bryson (Harry) and Cherrie Smith (Rev. Gary), sons; Dannie B. Smith, Jr. (Anita) and Ashley Smith (Kim), 25 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 22 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister; Norma Schaffer and brother; Nigel Lettice.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Dannie Bruce Smith, Sr, brother; Dennis and sister; Penny.
Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Albertville Memorial Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Friendship Cemetery in Douglas. Rev. Gary Smith, Jr. and Rev. Gary Smith, Sr. will officiate her service. Pallbearers will be Blake Smith, Elliot Glass, Skylar Everett, Daniel Smith, Bailey Smith and Nicholas Newton. Music and eulogies will be provided by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family receive friends from 10:30 until the time of service.
