Rita Jean Bowers

  Rita Jean Bowers, 83 of Elkmont, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Limestone Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Bowers was born Dec. 10, 1939 in Michigan to Theodore Paul Leigh and Julia Ester Berro Leigh. Her parents precede her in death, as well as two Brothers, Kenneth and Thomas Leigh.

Mrs. Bowers was retired from the Athens City School System. She was a member of Marion Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of over 30 years, James Bowers; one son, Brady Elmore and wife Lynn; one daughter, Doris Wray and husband Randall; one stepdaughter, Nicole McDonald and husband Brent; one brother, Paul Theodore Leigh and wife Laurie; two grandchildren, Brandon Elmore, Bella McDonald; one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Elmore; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be private graveside service for the family at Roselawn Cemetery.
