Obituary of Richard Walter Collier Richard Walter Collier Sr; eleventh youngest child born to Lonnie and Frances Richard Collier on June 28, 1955, passed away January 12, 2024.

During his formative years, Richard attended and graduated from Sacred Heart School. After Sacred Heart he went to Cullman High School, where he was a proud member of the Bearcats football team and created lifelong friendships with his “football buddies” (as they were called)—this included many excursions and find memories for him.

After graduating from St. Bernard College, Richard worked for a number of years with his father, Lonnie Collier Sr. Owner of the Dixie Tractor Company. His love for agriculture and tractors led him to start and manage Hartselle Seed and Feed where he sold farming equipment and supplies. Later in life, he would work from his home after developing complications with diabetes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Frances Richard Collier; sister, Mary Theresa; two brothers-in-law, Mickey McDowell and Larry Sparks; and a host of aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his son, Richard Walter Collier Jr; whom he shared with Judy Hood Collier; one grandson, Wiley Collier; his sisters, Leona “Babe” Wall (Bill), Margaret “Peggy” McDowell, Frances Styles, Issie Young (John), MaryAnn Whaley (Keith), Sharon Collier, and Joan Florence (Mark); his brothers, Lonnie Collier Jr. (Carol) and Leonard Collier. He is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, 68 great nieces and nephews, one aunt, JoAnn Richard and many cousins from Richard and Collier sides of his family. He will always be loved and remembered by all of us that knew him. Thank you to everyone who took even the smallest part in his rich life. Richard was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. His visitation will be Thursday, January 18th, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm followed by the rosary at Sacred Heart Church. His Funeral will be Friday, January 19th, at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 217 2nd Street SE, Cullman, AL.
