Richard Thomas Benson, age 65, of Lynchburg, Tennessee passed away on April 10, 2022, at Viviant Healthcare of Shelbyville, Tennessee. Richard was born on August 29, 1956, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Jack Otha Carithers and Ruby Mae Benson. He was a welder by trade and an artist by night whether it would be playing his guitar, harmonica, or painting. In his spare time, you could find him outdoors in the garden, watching the Atlanta Braves and listening to music especially The Beatles. Richard enjoyed telling jokes just to get a smile on the face of his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Ronnie Benson and Betty Smith. He is survived by his children, Brian (Ashley) Benson and Angela Benson; grandchildren, Kayla Gant, Daniel Myers, Tori Nunley, Destiny Cregut, Kyle Benson, and Jaxon Benson; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Buffington and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Benson will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 4:00pm from the chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022, in Monte Vista Biblical Gardens in Atlanta, Georgia, with service time to be announced later by Jennings-Moore-Cortner.
