Richard Pierce Reed, age 85 of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Tullahoma on August 18, 1939, to the late Samuel Edward and Eloise (Robertson) Reed. After high school, Richard joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in England. Following his military service, he went to MTSU for one year before graduating with a BS Degree in Religion from Trevecca in 1966. His love for Christ was shown through his work and love for others as he served from 1964-1975 at Estill Springs Nazarene Church, 1975-1980 at Western Oaks Nazarene Church in Oklahoma, 1980-1999 at Eastside Church of the Nazarene in Des Moines, Iowa, 1999-2001 at East Ridge Church of the Nazarene in Chattanooga, and from 2001 to currently serving as a pastor, mentor, and counselor to other pastors in need. Richard lived what he preached, a true prayer warrior, and loved giving out Christ-centered books or flowers and candy to help others or put a smile on their faces. In his spare time, he enjoyed biking, having logged thousands of miles and even riding seventy-five miles on his seventy-fifth birthday. Richard enjoyed traveling, whether it was going back to England, Scotland, or other European countries, or going on mission trips to Costa Rica and Mexico. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Wallace Reed, whom he had met at a church convention in 1961 and married in 1963. Richard is survived by his loving daughters, Richelle (Matt) Wilson, and Shanna Reed; grandchildren, Alex (Alex) Faircloth, Katie Faircloth, Olivia Faircloth, Megan Reed, Samuel Reed, and Zachary Wilson; great-grandchildren, Braelyn Faircloth and Everleigh Faircloth; brother, Ronnie Reed; and nephews, Ron Reed and Josh Wallace. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Estill Springs Nazarene Church as well as from 12-1pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Estill Springs Nazarene Church. Funeral Services will be held at1:00pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Estill Springs Nazarene Church with Dr. Tim Parson, Dr. Ron McCormick, Dr. Ron Dewitt, and Josh Wallace officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with military honors bestowed and Richard’s beloved grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
