Funeral service for Richard “PaPa” Slaten will be Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in Cheatham Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Slaten passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Falkville Health Care Center.  He was born March 16, 1931, in Morgan County to Willis Street Slaten and Claytie Mae Norris Slaten.  He was 88 years old.

Preceding him in death were his wife: Carol Anne Moore, his son: Joseph Allen, a daughter: Lisa Jane, his parents, his brothers: Franklin and Roy Slaten, sisters: Jessie Turrentine, Eloise Slaten and Edna Hall, half brothers: Tennis Slaten, Dennis Slaten and Albert Adair, sisters-in-law: Jean Slaten (wife of Franklin), Lilly (wife of Tennis) and Reba (wife of Albert), brothers-in-law: Earl Turrentine  and Walter Hall.

Survivors include:
Daughter – Lorretta Rose Slaten

Daughter-in-law – Lora Slaten

Grandson – Gavin Slaten

Sister-in-law – Nancy Slaten

numerous Nieces & Nephews from the Slaten family and
Wife’s (Moore family) Rhonda, Diane and Sidney, who kept in touch with their uncle and others visited when able.

Richard worked for Baker’s Manufacturing and Denbo Tennessee Valley Recycling. After the loss of his wife, he continued on with his life raising their three children. He retired and spent his spare time hunting and fishing. He loved his beagle dogs. Richard helped mother raise his siblings and helped wth nieces and nephews to the best of his ability. He was loved by all and will be missed.

Pallbearers will be Mickey Brown, Sr., Mickey Brown, Jr., Bubba Gillihand, Sidney Beard, Carl Turrentine and Jason Slaten.
