Richard Lanford Graham – Obituary

richardRichard Lanford Graham, 92, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday at his home. Mr. Graham was born in Hazel Green to Albert Slaughter Graham and Carrie Lowe Graham. He is preceded in death by his grandson and namesake, Richard Graham Garrett and 3 siblings, Albert Graham, Jr., Rene Graham Bailey, and Ruth Graham Stringfellow.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Monte Walker Graham; 3 daughters, Margie Graham Garrett of Nashville, Lynn Grooms (Spencer) of Nashville, Amy Graham of Huntsville; sister, Mary Ann Graham Norrell of Auburn; grandchildren, Grantland Garrett, Stacey, Nathan, Timothy and Aaron Grooms, all of Nashville; one great-grandson, Ethan Graham Garrett; and ten nieces and nephews.

A veteran of World War II, Mr. Graham served in the Burma Theatre and was a Bronze Star recipient. He graduated in 1948 from Auburn University and was an avid Auburn football fan his entire life. His career included sales and real estate broker. Mr. Graham was a member of Southside Baptist Church for over 60 years.

There will be a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 209 Marshuetz Ave., SE, Huntsville, AL 35801 or the Huntsville Hospital Pediatric Neurology, 1963 Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, AL 35801.
