Richard Ellis Cochran,Jr
Richard “RICK” Cochran died peacefully on October 11,2018 at the age of 74, after a three-year battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard Ellis Cochran and his mother Doris Cochran Nelson and stepfather Elliot Nelson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jan Cochran.
His son, Richard Ellis Cochran III RICH and wife, Lisa Aronow, and
daughter, Julie Cochran
Rick completed a Bachelor of Science degree from Vanderbilt University and David Lipscomb University. He also held a Master of Public Health Administration from Middle Tennessee State University.
Rick had a diverse 33-year career with the Tennessee Department of Public Health. He served as director or administrator in numerous areas of public health throughout middle Tennessee. He was also active in the Tennessee Public Health Association and was treasurer for many years.
Rick was an avid golfer and was Past President of the Nashville Senior Golf Association.
He was well known as a true Black and Gold Vanderbilt fan and especially loved Vanderbilt baseball. He and Rich spent many years together cheering for Vandy teams.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00PM. At Rick’s request a private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to Alive Hospice in Nashville, Gentry Educational Foundation in care of Johnson Elementary School 815 Glass Lane, Franklin, TN 37064, Poplar Grove Middle School 2959 Del Rio Pike, Franklin, TN 37069, or a charity of your choice.
