Richard Delbert Nevels, 85, of Tony, passed away on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025, at his home in Toney, Alabama. He was born in Wayne County, Kentucky, on December 10th, 1939, to John and Mattie (Brunscun) Nevels.
Mr. Nevels is survived by his wife, Ada Faye Nevels; sister Easter Ent (John); stepdaughters, Sherry Leslie (Bob), and Joy Cooke (Barry); special granddaughters, Novalee Cooke and Reagan Cooke; special nephews, Bruce Cowan and Steve Cowan (Debbie); special nieces, Kim Calhoun (Albert) and Kathy McClendon (Roger); and many other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mattie Nevels; brothers, Cecil Nevels, Henry Nevels, and Oval Nevels; and sisters, Hettie Cowan, Mary Weaver, Lora Carrell, and Beulah Nevels.
Mr. Nevels attended Wayne County High School in Kentucky. He was in the army for four years and served in Korea. He worked for Crysler for thirty years.
For thirty-five years, he was married to the love of his life, Ada Faye. When he retired, he joined the American Legion where he made many friends. He and his wife also loved to travel, especially to see NASCAR races. When he was no longer able to go to NASCAR races, he had friends that could come and watch with him at home. He also loved Kentucky basketball. He also loved his two poodles, Duke and Lulu.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m., at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. There will be a service at Mill Springs National Cemetery, Nancy, Kentucky, on Thursday.
