Richard Charles Wargo, 59, a native of Painesville, Ohio, and a resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at his home after an extended illness. He grew up in Florence, Alabama, and attended the University of Alabama for his undergraduate degrees. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and Delta Chi fraternity at the University of Alabama. He retired from Christus Health in 2013 after 29 years of service.
Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, from 9-11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. The visitation was followed by a memorial mass at 11 a.m., with Father Pike Thomas officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Lou Wargo.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Wargo; daughter, Lindsey Wargo and fiancee, Brad Renick; son, Ryan Wargo and fiancee, Maria Santalucia; brother, Jay Wargo and parnter, Darlene Wann; sister, Kathleen Stanfield and husband, Clyde; as well as several nieces and nephews and beloved friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Wargo, Keith Denson, Gary Leach, Drew Stanfield, Hunter Stanfield, Alan Matthews and Mike Goodwin.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Robert Massingill and his staff (Diantha, Edith, Kate and Cheryl); Christus Health Hospice and special caregivers (Robyn Watkins, Theresa Byrd, Stephanie Plunkett, Debbie Purvis, Veda Cawthorn and Cindy Ezornack).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Alabama or to the American Cancer Society.
