Richard Charles Agnew was born on October 4, 1961, to the late Charlies C. Agnew and Ludella Tyes
Agnew. He was reared by his paternal grandparents, Lee Wilson Agnew, and Della Mae Davis Agnew.
Richard entered eternal rest on November 24, 2023 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
He was known affectionately as, “Ickiny Boy”, “Agnew” “Ricky” and “Richard Man”.
Richard spent his youth “in the fields” with his paternal grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his
grandfather and first cousins, Jerry and William during seedtime and harvest. Richard worked for Red Kap
Industries and Action Furniture for several years. At the time of his death, he was employed by Ashley
Furniture in Saltillo, MS. Richard also enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, washing cars, and hanging out with
his friends.
Richard was a 1979 graduate of Baldwyn High School.
On November 23, 1995, Richard entered holy matrimony with Shirley Mayfield. To this union one child,
Renika, was born.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Lee Wilson and Della Mae Agnew, John, and
Rosetta Tyes, his brother, David Wayne Agnew.
Richard is survived by his wife of 28 years, Shirley Agnew; his daughter, Renika Agnew, his granddaughter,
Za’Keria Barnett; Goddaughter, Ameera Young and her son Khaston Jennings; his siblings, Betty R. Pierce,
Raymond Agnew, Ruthie Agnew, Maurice Agnew and Ray Agnew, his aunts, Brenda Agnew, Mandy
Easley, Lucille Agnew, Alberta Tyes, Pauline Tyes and Gertrude Tyes; sisters-in-law, Linda Blackmon,
Jacklyn Walker (Rev. Lowell) and Mary Nash; his brothers-in-law, James “Ed” Mayfield, Jackie Mayfield,
and Lee Anthony Mayfield.; special friends, Eric Bonds, Demetrius Pages and Patrick Harris, a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
