Richard Cartee, 79, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with Brother Hollis Rutherford officiating. Burial will be in Symrna Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Cartee was born on September 12, 1933, in Lawrence County to Hyatt and Nona Cartee. He was the last surviving sibling of nine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Cartee; and granddaughter, Stormi Jo Mayes.
He is survived by his daughters, Wanda Alexander (Dean) and Carol Mayes (Harold Jr.); four grandchildren, Richie Alexander (Katie), MaKayla Pullum, Rowdy Mayes and Rocky Mayes.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Corum, Dusty Richardson, Terry Logston, Dewight Terry, Jason Stricklin, Lee Jordan and Dale Cross.
