Richard Bates Jr., 81, died August 19, 2021. Funeral will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, Leighton, burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield. Public viewing will be Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Thompson and Son Funeral home, Tuscumbia, directing.
