Richard Allen Scruggs, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Richard was born in Pennsylvania on August 25, 1943 to the late Henry Scruggs and Ruth DeHart Scruggs.
He is survived by his sons, Terry Scruggs and wife Christy, Larry Scruggs, Chris Westcott and Brian Westcott; grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, Andrew, Connor and Aidan Scruggs, Owen, Taylor and Hannah Westcott; siblings, James Scruggs and Ruth Ann Pavlina. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Jan Westcott Scruggs; siblings, Herbert, Frank and Kenneth Scruggs.
Richard served in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20+ years of service and was Vietnam Veteran, after retirement he continued working as a Civil Servant.
A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Alabama 35901, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
Richard will be laid to rest in Anniston Memorial Gardens, 4000 US-431, Anniston, Alabama 36206.
