Richard A. Vickery Sr. 75, of Athens, Alabama passed away May 31st, 2022 after a long illness. Richard was born in Etowah County in 1947. There he married his high school sweetheart Wanda Dianne Gladden Vickery for 57 years. Richard is survived by his wife Wanda Gladden Vickery, sons Richard A. Vickery Jr. (Susan Vickery) and James Scott Vickery. Richard is also survived by brothers Thomas, Randall and Ronald Vickery along with a sister-in-law Debra Murdock. He had many nieces and nephews as well as two special nieces Harper Gohn and Macey Connelly.
Richard worked at the steel mill in Gadsden for 35 years as a millwright.
Richard was preceded in death by his father Allan Vickery, mother Margaret Poe Vickery, mother and father in-law Bernice and JC Gladden.
Cremation Services handled by Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, Al and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
