Mrs. Rhoda Leona (Leigh) Jackson, 88, of Florence, went to her heavenly home Friday, Sept. 18, 2015. She was a native of Lauderdale County and a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rhoda Watkins Davis; husbands, Foster Young and Dr. J. Wesley Jackson; son, Roy Young Sr.; and grandson, Roy Young Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Joan Willis and husband, Tom, Ginger Millsaps and husband, Chip; two sons, John Young and Richard Young and wife, Susan, all of Muscle Shoals; two sisters, Lucille Gamble, of Iron City, Tennessee, and Frankie Roberson, of Florence; grandchildren, Stacy Nichols, Craig and Tony Young, Allen Millsaps, Deanna Gray, Chad Young, Tyler and Anna Young, Matt Bailey, Rachel Millsaps, Hannah Young and Chelsea Young; stepgrandchildren, Chasity Farris and Clint Kirchner; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148-0552 or to a charity of your choice.
Our mother could have achieved any goal in life that she desired. She was beautiful, talented and intelligent. But she chose her children over all else except for God. Her faith in God was constant throughout her life and was passed on to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mother’s sacrifices for her children were only surpassed by her love and devotion to their well being. She was beautiful inside and out and everyone that knew her loved her. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
