Rhea Edward Cothron, 76, of Union Grove passed away September 17, 2021, at Huntsville Hospital. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. A memorial service is planned for 12:00 pm, Saturday October 2nd, 2021, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Brookwood Cemetery in Arab.
Rhea was born June 29, 1945, to Marion and Minnie Cothron in Hartsville, Tennessee. Upon graduation from high school, he honorably served in the Army while faithfully fighting for his country in the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he started working for Chrysler Corporation, married the former Tommie Jean Johnson, and started his family. In 1989. He relocated his family to Alabama where he would retire from Chrysler after 33 years, watch his beloved daughters start families of their own and begin his favorite role in life, becoming “Peepaw” to his 5 grandchildren.
Rhea was preceded in death by his infant twin daughters, son-in-law, Ben Morgan and his wife of 48 years, Tommie Cothron.
Rhea is survived by his two daughters, who were his joy, Cindy Morgan of Phoenix, AZ and Karen (David) Stone of Huntsville, AL. His joy of being “Daddy “to Cindy and Karen would be surpassed as he became “Peepaw” to his surviving grandchildren, Presley Morgan of Columbia, MO, Macy Morgan of Dallas, TX, Matthew Morgan of Phoenix, AZ, and Madison and Katelyn Stone both of Huntsville, AL. In addition, Rhea is survived by his two beloved sisters, and was “Uncle Rhea” to a host of nieces and nephews.
