Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, and Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers, are the Top Jobs in November

MONTGOMERY – Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that in November 2024, there were 77,956 job ads posted in Alabama, representing a monthly decrease of 1.6%.

 

The five occupations with the most online job ads are for Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers, Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers, and Customer Service Representatives with 12,558 ads placed for those occupations in November.

 

The HWOL data is compiled from all online job postings in the state, including those posted on the state’s free online jobs database, AlabamaWorks.alabama.gov, and other sources, such as traditional job boards, corporate boards, and social media sites.

 

In November 2024, there were 31,638 total job ads with salaries, including 9,189 jobs ads with salaries of $70,000 and above; 8,690 jobs ads with salaries in the $35-49,000 range; 5,411 jobs ads with salaries in the $50-69,000 range, and 8,348 jobs ads with salaries less than $35,000.

 

The top two employers posting the most online ads in November were Huntsville Hospital with 1,089 ads and Walmart with 923 ads. The rest of the top 10 were: UAB Medicine (788), Taco Bell (692), Jack’s Family Restaurants (503), Circle K (421), Regions Financial (418), Baptist Health (411), Auburn University (390) and The University of Alabama at Birmingham (385).

 

This month’s HWOL Occupation Focus is Exercise Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors. Those employed in this occupation instruct or coach groups of individuals in exercise activities for the primary purpose of personal fitness and demonstrate techniques and form, observe participants, and explain to them corrective measures necessary to improve their skills. They may also develop and implement individualized approaches to exercise. Typically, employees in these occupations usually need a High school diploma or equivalent. This occupation may also require one or two years of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers. The advertised median salary for Exercise Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors in Alabama is $47,232. This occupation has 805 Annual Total Openings in Alabama.
