On January 7, 2024, Reed Henley, 76, passed away peacefully in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Reed was born on Henley Hollar in DeKalb County, Tennessee.
Reed devoted his life to his family and his love of cars, golf, and sports, especially Tennessee Volunteers football. He worked for many years at Beaman Automotive in Nashville and owned Henley & Kemp Auto Sales in Lebanon, TN. Additionally, he served in the Army Reserves. He became a licensed auctioneer for the state of Tennessee and later owned Nashville Auction and Realty with his wife Kathy. After retiring, he and Kathy moved to Ponte Vedra, Florida where he enjoyed golfing three to four days a week, spending time with friends in the Del Webb Men’s Club, and being a loving husband, father, and Papa.
Reed was the son of Ed and Lucille Henley. He is survived by his wife Kathy Harper-Henley, his sons Bruce (who is married to Marjan) and Kyle, granddaughter Alannah, and grand-dog Coco. His brother J.D. Henley preceded him in death. Reed also has a number of nieces and nephews and dozens of close friends he’s made over the years. He was known by all to have a welcoming smile to everyone he met, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Services for Reed will take place at Sellars Funeral Home at 313 West Baddour Parkway in Lebanon, TN. The viewing is scheduled for Thursday, January 11 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., and the funeral services will be on Friday, January 12 at 1:00 p.m. The family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, consider making a donation in Reed’s honor with the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
