FLORENCE HARBOR MARINA – County and State emergency and law enforcement personnel are continuing their efforts this morning to recover accident victims, Jeremiah and Jacob Sanders from Lake Pickwick.
The two men, both well known within the community, were declared missing Wednesday night when they failed to return from a fishing trip. Their boat was discovered capsized near Singing River Bridge, its occupants were not found in the wreckage. The search that began Wednesday evening and went until 2:30 the next morning was, at that point considered a rescue effort. But as of Thursday, rescue personnel have shifted the focus to a recovery mission.
The search efforts yesterday were focused in the waters just below the Wilson Dam spillways, a popular, but somewhat treacherous fishing spot. Today the search is moving downstream toward McFarland Park, just past O’Neal Bridge.
