Memorial services for Mrs. Rebecca Petty, age 81, will be Friday, December 6, 2024 at 1pm at Brazil Church, in Brazil, TN.
Mrs. Petty, a retired teacher, coach, and former Sunday School teacher at the Methodist Church in Jackson, TN, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at Maplewood Healthcare Center in Jackson, TN.
Rebecca Allen Petty graduated from UT Martin then went on to receive a Master’s degree in English from Memphis State University. Rebecca taught English and physical education at Tigrett Jr High in Jackson, also serving as coach for the track team winning several state championships. A couple of her proudest athletes, one of which competed in the Olympics and Ed (Too Tall) Jones who played at TSU and for the Dallas Cowboys. Rebecca was an avid horse rider and won many barrel races with her horse named Spot. One of Rebecca’s other interests was visiting her sister in Florida and surfing the waves off Anastasia Island. Rebecca loved all animals and volunteered with the Jackson Humane Society.
