Funeral for Rebecca Merrill Wilder, 90, of Decatur, will be Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Roger Jenkins officiating and Hartselle Heritage directing. A private family graveside service will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. before the service at the church.
Mrs. Wilder died Friday, September 29, 2017, at Riverside Senior Living in Decatur. She was born July 29, 1927, in Covington Country, Alabama to Beatrice and Jess Merrill. She was a graduate of Andalusia High School and attended the University of Montevallo. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for 55 years.
She was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Guy B. Wilder Jr.; and two brothers, Warren Merrill and Jacob Merrill.
Survivors include her two daughters, Virginia Wilder Adams, of Birmingham and Frances Wilder Adams (Charles), of Decatur; two sons, Guy Bentley Wilder III and Richard Merrill Wilder (Arabelle), both of Decatur; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hines Barrineau, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and Catherine Adams Grunschel (Jeff), of Decatur; six grandsons, Christopher S. Hines (Melissa), of Birmingham, Guy Bentley Wilder IV (Annie), of Birmingham, Webster Giles Wilder, of Decatur, Richard Paull Wilder (Samantha), of Decatur, Charles Lucien Adams III (Chelsea), of Athens, and William Knox Wilder, of Decatur; and 11 great grandchildren.
Jeff Grunschel, grandsons, and great-grandson Joseph Wilder Hines will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Decatur.
Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
