Rebecca Hughes Mixon, age 66, of Decatur, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.Visitation will be on Saturday, October 27, 2024 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm with a Celebration of LIfe service to follow at 2:00pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Decatur City Cemetery.
Becky is survived by her husband, James David Mixon, Sr.; sisters and best friends, Celia Hughes Fabery (Ray) and Janet Hughes Burleson (Hank); granddaughters, Maddie and Sophie Mixon; brothers-in-law, Steve Mixon and Dean Mixon(Christine), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Dean and Calvin; son, James David Mixon, Jr.; brother, Darrell Hughes; mother-and father-in-law, Judy and Melvin Mixon and brother-in-law, Scott Mixon.
Becky Hughes Mixon was a beloved mother, sister, wife and grandmother. She taught over 20 years, mainly at Cedar Ridge middle school. She loved her students and coworkers. She brought so much love and joy to the world. She was an Austin High and Athens State University graduate and had life long friends she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed. We find peace knowing she is with her baby boy.
Pallbearers will be family members.
In lieu of flowers, family as donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
