Rebecca Gail Sanford, age 66 of Haleyville, Alabama passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020. She was born March 3, 1954 to Ray Ernest Wells and Imogene Taylor Wells in Memphis, TN. Becky was the youngest girl and kept our mother challenged.
The family moved from Florence, Alabama to Tampa, Florida in December 1959. In 1961, the family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida. When our mother opened her own custom drapery and upholstery business in 1965, each of the children, except James, eventually became involved and employed by the business.
Becky met and married the love of her life, Billy Dale Sanford, in 1974 at Lake Worth Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. They married in 1975 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She and Bill lived in Tuscaloosa for a few years then moved to Chicago, Illinois. Two years later, they relocated back to South Florida, where Becky worked in the family business, La-Sy-Re Interiors, located in Lake Worth, Fl. She was a very talented seamstress, but her dream was to become an interior designer. Becky completed an Associates Degree in Interior Design at Palm Beach State College in 1975. She had a good eye for color and coordination.
Becky was a faithful member of her church and church choir, and she had a beautiful soprano voice. She was selected solos many times. Later she, and her sister, Lynn, did several duets together at their church.
Becky and Bill never were able too have children of their own, however she delighted in her nephews and one niece. She like to surprise them with little homemade gifts. One year she made pajamas for all of them for Christmas.
A private service will be held and burial will follow in Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berry, Alabama.
Rebecca is survived by her sister, Lynn Wells-Hall; brother, Tony (Cheryl) Walker; nephews, Matthew, Vincent, Erich and Brandon; and a niece, Rachel; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Dale Sanford in February 2020; brother, James in September 2015; and sister, Sylvia in November 2015; her father Rayy Wells in May 1957; and mother, Imogene Taylor in February 2006.
