Rebecca “Becky” Howard, known for her warm soul and bright smile, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023, at Union County Health and Rehab in New Albany. Born on December 21, 1946, in Corinth, Becky lived a fulfilling life that will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Becky was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent her career at Radio Shack, where she worked in retail. She approached her job with enthusiasm and was highly regarded by both her colleagues and customers. Becky’s exceptional work ethic and commitment to providing excellent service left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Beyond the workplace, Becky found true joy in various hobbies and interests. She had a green thumb and found solace in gardening; nurturing vibrant flowers brought her immense pleasure. Cooking was another passion of Becky’s. Her friends and family were often treated to mouthwatering meals prepared with love. Becky’s warm hospitality extended to hosting events at her house. She took great delight in creating memorable moments for her loved ones.
In addition to gardening and cooking, Becky found immense happiness in nature. Spending time at the lake and camping offered her an opportunity to unwind from the demands of everyday life. These moments allowed Becky to reconnect with the peace that nature provided.
Family meant everything to Becky, and she held them close with unwavering love and support.
Becky leaves behind two loving sons, Jeff Willis and Jason Willis, who brought immeasurable pride to her heart. Her grandchildren Noah Willis, Macy Willis, Finn Willis, Taylor Willis, and Julia May Gable were the lights of her life. Becky’s love for each of them was boundless, as she relished every moment spent together. Her nurturing spirit and kind-heartedness will live on through her adoring family.
Becky was preceded in death by her father, Marlin Bodford, and her mother, Margaret Swinford and her husband Perry Howard. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters: Jane Pillow and Martha Holloman. Their presence in her life shaped the person she became, and their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved Becky dearly.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Becky’s remarkable life will be held on July 27, 2023, at Glenfield Memorial Park in New Albany. The service will commence at 10:00 AM, with friends and family gathering to pay their final respects at 101 N. Denton Road. The event serves as an opportunity to share fond memories and bid farewell to a woman whose impact was deeply felt.
