F 2.21.23 Rebecca Young.jpg Rebecca Ann Young, passed away at NAMC, on Saturday, February 18, 2023. She spent her last days surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on September 8, 1933, to the late Elbridge and Vernon Murphy. She married Joe Young on June 25, 1949, and they settled in Cloverdale, AL to start their family.

Rebecca was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family always looked forward to going to MamMaw’s for those special meals she prepared. She could often be seen in the bleachers cheering on her grands. If she could not attend, she wanted frequent updates by phone.

Wherever she went she was recognized by her customers from Liberty Supermarket and Walmart. They always remembered her for her sweet smile and her helpful nature.

She was a member of Chisholm Hills Church of Christ. In the last few years, although she was not able to attend in person, she was faithful to watch remotely for each service. She loved her church family.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Young; her son, Larry Young; and sisters, Jennie Wallace and Dorothy Oakley.

She is survived by her son, Ronnie Young and wife, Connie; daughter-in-law, Theresa Young; grandchildren, Millie Basden (Scott), Whitley Young (Maria), Chasity Price (B.J.), and Dusty Young (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Walker, Bentley, and Bryant Basden, Cohen and Reece Young, Lucas, Kinlee, and Riley Price, and Asher Young; sister, Martha Moore; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Rebecca is also survived by a special man, Seth Gooden, who spent the last 17 years making her every wish come true.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at Chisholm Hills Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Bro. Charles Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be MamMaw’s Great-Grandsons.
