Raymond Wade Slaten – Obituary

Raymond Wade Slaten, 86, of Athens passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Mr. Slaten was born December 10, 1927 in Morgan County to William Slaten and Ruby Lawrence Slaten.

Services will be Friday, June 27, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Lynn Rager officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Slaten was a veteran of the Korean War in the United States Army and was retired after 34 years in Alabama National Guards.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Slaten; two sons, Danny Slaten and wife, Amy, of Union Hill and Kevin Slaten and wife, Tammy, of Athens; two daughters, Karen Sprague and husband, Tommy, of Athens and Sherry Perry and husband, Tom, of Decatur; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Slaten and wife, Joyce, of Hartselle and Joe Slaten and wife, Shirley, of West Point; five sisters, Betty Watson of Hartselle, Lucille Crume, Shirley Rabens and husband, Chris, Ruth Baldwin and Violet Blackburn, all of Charleston, S.C.; several nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
