Raymond Hershel Godsey, age 86, Hamilton, Alabama passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at NMMC-Tupelo. He was born in Marion County, Alabama on Sunday, January 28, 1934 to James and Artivee Langston Godsey.
Raymond graduated from Hamilton High School in 1952. He and his wife, Betty lived in Atlanta Georgia, Chattanooga Tennessee, Birmingham Alabama, South Carolina and Florida during this time he was employed with Bama Foods, Sunny Land Refinery and sales until he retired. He was also a member and deacon of Hamilton Church of Christ for many years.
Visitation will be Sunday, 12:30-2 p.m. August 16, 2020 at Marion County Funeral Home, the service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Ted Burleson and Ryan Gallagher officiating, and burial at Hamilton Memory Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Artivee Godsey; son, Ronnie Godsey; daughter, Donna Sweatman; brothers, Olan Godsey, Davis Godsey; sister, Mavis Fredrick.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Betty Mays Godsey ; son, Gary Godsey (wife, Debra) grandchildren, Angie Blackstock, Amanda Bryan (husband, Jeremy), Jamie Godsey (Kristen), Jackie Godsey, Shelby Grissom (husband, Robert), Jared Jones; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emmie, Bianca, Jazz, Leann, Colt; sisters, Beulah Armstrong, Neatia Daddis, Jimmie Lou Sherman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Maywood Christian Camp.
