Raymond Clyde Muncher, 92 of Sumiton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 6, 2024.
He was a 72- year member of Sumiton Church of God (He was the oldest living male member of the church) He served in numerous roles at the church. He was a member of the Board of Trustees. He served as Building Committee Chairman for the old and new church buildings. He was a member of the Men’s Council for many years. He led the Sanctuary Choir in the 1960’s. He was the church Groundskeeper and Custodian for 20 plus years. He was a member of Carpenter’s for Christ, where he helped build a Children’s Home in Tennessee. He served in many other roles, including being involved with the Men’s Fellowship. In his own words, “Attending and serving at Sumiton Church of God were some of the best days of his life”
Mr. Muncher was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a Civil Defense member and a member of the Lion’s Club. He served as Worship Leader at Cordova Health Care for 5 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Faye Muncher; his parents, Arthur Eugene and Delphia Muncher and his great granddaughter, Arya Muncher; four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his children, Sam Muncher and wife Anna, Rebecca Perkins and husband Rodney, Tim Muncher and wife Melissa, Amanda Laird and husband John and Jonathan Muncher and wife Sandy; grandchildren, Samatha Gromko (John), Shane Perkins (Bethany), Todd Muncher (Rebecca), Kevin Muncher ( Niki), Jason Perkins (Carolyn), Josh Perkins (Brittani), Amy Rice (Brian), Paige Givens (Chris), Hannah Sparks (Jayson), Jillian Averhart (Hunter), Judson Laird (Jadah), Kaelynn Robinson (Stephanie), Madison Muncher (Bailey) and Gracie Muncher; great grandchildren, Ethan, Harper and Emilia Muncher; Sophie Gromko; Parker, Peyton and Cora Joy Givens; Carter Ray Sparks, Tanner, and Jacob Rice and Jeremiah and; Jase, Jett and Jude Perkins; Lilly, Harrison and Hollis Perkins, Skylar Lara and Emersyn Mae Averhart, and ; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be Friday February 9, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Sumiton Church of God. Rev. Lane Sargent and Pastor Harv Turner will officiate. Burial will follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday 1-2 pm at the church.
