Mr. Raymond AndrewsMr. Raymond Andrews was born February 17, 1953 in Meridianville, Alabama. He was the fifth child born to Mr. Daniel Paul and Gracie Mae Andrews. Raymond departed this life on July 11, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Paul Andrews, and his brother James Paul Andrews.

Raymond obtained his early education from Mt. Lebanon Elementary School in Toney, Alabama, He   attended High School at Councill Training High School in Normal, Alabama from 1969 -1970 until the school closed. He then transferred to Lee High School and completed his education in 1972.

Raymond met the love of his life, Geraldine Hampton, in high school. The two of them were married in 1976. Their 48 year union was blessed with one daughter, Stephanie Danielle.

Raymond had an extensive work history. He worked at Genesco Manufacturing Company after high school. In 1974 he began his lifelong career at PPG Industries and was a valued employee for 42 years, retiring in 2016.

Raymond was an avid fisherman. He spent many years fishing his favorite holes on the rivers and lakes in North Alabama. His favorite fishing buddy was his daughter, Stephanie.

Raymond was a fervent gun enthusiast and specialized as a long-range sharpshooter. He was very active in the Huntsville Shooting Sports Association and was the sitting Vice President. He was also a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Church Affiliations: He was an active member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Male Chorus for many years. He participated in and supported many other church ministries until his health started to decline.

Raymond’s memories will be cherished by his loving wife Geraldine (Geri); his beautiful daughter Stephanie; two sisters: Carolyn Strong and Betty Jo Wilson (Murphy); two brothers: A.D. Andrews and Larry Andrews; his sister-in-law Mildred Tyous; and four brothers-in-law: Walter Lee Hampton (Laverne), Eddie Hampton, Clarence Hampton (Evelyn), and Willie Hampton. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church (292 Cemetery Road, New Market, AL 35761) with Pastor Larry Davidson officiating. Interment will be in the Saint Ruth Cemetery. Mr. Andrews will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024 and 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home.
