A Tribute to a Life of Service and Dedication

Raymond Andrew Hayes (SSG, ret), known for his unwavering commitment to duty, passed away on July 4, 2023. Born in Braddock, PA, in January 1946, Raymond lived a remarkable life filled with military service and remarkable achievements.

Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1964, dedicating 20 years of his life to the military. Rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, he served with distinction in various roles, including Construction Equipment Supervisor and Food Service Specialist.

During the Vietnam War, Raymond’s courage and dedication were evident as he completed five tours of duty. As a Construction Equipment Supervisor, he played a vital role in building and repairing infrastructure. Additionally, his skills as a Food Service Specialist ensured the well-being of his fellow servicemen and women.

After retiring from the military in July 1984, Raymond embarked on a 12-year career at the Defense Supply Agency (DSA). His commitment to excellence and strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Chong, his daughter Rhanda, her Husband John, and their children, Lauren, Nathan, and Ashton. He was a loving husband, father, and doting grandfather. Raymond’s legacy of love and devotion will live on through his family forever.

Raymond Andrew Hayes will be dearly missed, but his bravery, honor, and devotion legacy will endure. An intimate memorial service will be held to honor his life and service.

Rest in peace, Raymond Andrew Hayes, a true hero and an inspiration to us all.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors.
