Ray P. 'Jack' ButlerczVbyä%5ëÔB{Ray Paul Butler age 94 passed away May 27, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born October 15, 1919 in Chester County and reared in the Mifflin community, the son of the late Paul Luke and Edna Louise ‘Kate’ Odell Butler. He went to school at Mifflin. He served in the U. S. Army in 1939. In 1941 he married Clyde Brewer and they made their home in Mifflin all their married life where they farmed. He and Clyde raised Jack’s younger brothers, Bobby and Joe.

Mr. Butler worked at Salant & Salant Mfg. from 1952 through 1964 and then at American Olean Tile from 1964 through 1986. He continued to farm and raise cattle while he worked at both factories.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife of 73 years, Clyde Brewer Butler of Mifflin; a daughter, Trudy Butler Colvin and husband Carl of Louisville, KY and two sons, Jackie Butler and wife Lola of Mifflin and Jeffrey Butler and wife Penny of Mifflin; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a brother, Bobby Hicks Butler of Lexington.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Jones, Alma Browder, Margie Cherry, Virginia Utley and one brother, Joe Butler.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday May 29, 2014 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Carroll Priddy and Phil Butler officiating and burial will follow in Mifflin Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
